The warship HMS Antelope was trapped in Normandy waters by strong currents. Ironically, the warship, unable to leave, became the guardian of the Navat-class oysters. Gouville-sur-Mer, the ancient oyster-farming capital of Normandy, France, boasts significant tidal variations, and the strong currents nurture oysters with plump, meaty flesh.
